Boston United continued their climb up the League Two table with victory over inconsistent Bristol Rovers.
Goals from Lawrie Dudfield, Ian Ross and Julian Joachim eclipsed an early equaliser for the visitors by Richard Walker as the Pilgrims stretched their unbeaten run to eight games.
Boston had shown purposeful attacking intent from the first minute when Ross curled a 25-yard free-kick inches past a post.
They took the lead on 10 minutes when Dudfield showed clever control on the corner of the six yard box before hooking the ball just inside the angle of bar and post.
But Rovers equalised two minutes later with an opportunist 25 yard angled lob shot by Richard Walker.
Boston hit back and Dudfield missed a great chance. He cashed in on a slip by Craig Hinton but dragged a shot wide of the target.
Generally though neither side managed to recreate the events of the initial phase, although towards the interval Boston got in a couple of good crosses by Brad Maylett and Ross. However there was no end product.
The opening exchanges of the second half were somewhat tame but things sprang to life on 52 minutes when Boston were awarded a penalty when a surging run by Lee Canoville was ended by Hinton's foul. Ross stepped up and despite seeing his first attempt pushed away by Scott Shearer he followed up to net the rebound.
Rovers tried to hit back and twice went close to an equaliser. First Michael Leary shot wide from a cross by Ali Gibb and then home keeper Wright brilliantly tipped away another low drive by Leary on 63 minutes.
Back at the other end Joachim almost added a third for Boston on 67 minutes but his low drive was saved at the foot of a post by Shearer.
Joachim wasn't to be denied in the 80th minute when firing in from close range after Mark Greaves knocked down a Ross centre.
