Bristol Rovers manager Paul Trollope described his side's 6-1 defeat to Oxford in the first round of the Carling Cup as the worst since he has been in charge. Rovers looked seemingly in control of the match early on but were 4-1 down at half-time, a Chris Lines strike being the only consolation, before conceding twice more in the second period. Trollope told the club's official website: "It was a very poor night, the poorest since I have been in charge. It was embarrassing. "After a promising bright start to the game, where we moved the ball quite well and looked dangerous, we capitulated in our defensive display. "There was a lack of desire to defend in general, lack of desire to get the ball, lack of desire to mark players in the box and a general lack of defensive hunger in all areas, which in any game at any level you cannot have. "We want a quick reaction, and Saturday (against Yeovil) has turned into a big game at such an early stage."
