Ken Oram, head of youth football at Cheltenham Town, is leaving to take on a similar role with Bristol Rovers. He will work alongside new youth team coach Jerry Gill at The Memorial Stadium and have special responsibility for the club's centre of excellence.
Oram, who spent seven seasons at Cheltenham, told BBC Gloucestershire: "It was a difficult decision, given the work and effort put in at Cheltenham.
"Personally and professionally it is the right time to move on."
The appointment is part of a Rovers' backroom re-structuring and follows the departure of Stuart Naughton as centre of excellence manager.
Oram added: "This is a great challenge for me. It's a chance to work at a bigger club with a bigger catchment area for players.
"I leave behind a number of very good boys and I'm confident that the scheme at Cheltenham will go from strength to strength."
Under Oram's guidance Cheltenham's homegrown policy has reaped handsome rewards, with seven of the current 20-man professional squad being graduates of the youth team.
Cheltenham under-18s manager John Brough is understood to be the favourite to step into the head of youth role at Whaddon Road.
