Bristol Rovers have handed a trial to former Aston Villa youngster Kofi Poyser. The striker scored in last season's FA Youth Cup final but was released after failing to earn a new contract at Villa Park. Poyser played an hour of the Pirates' second-string defeat to Southampton and reserve boss Darren Patterson says he will be keeping a close eye on the striker. "Kofi scored a lot of goals at Villa and has had a couple of trials elsewhere since leaving," he told the Bristol Evening Post. "He is a bit short of match fitness and you could see he was tiring before we substituted him. We'll have a look at it and then decide whether we will take things any further."
