Bristol Rovers caretaker manager Darren Patterson is hoping the Pirates get off to a good start to the new year after four successive postponements.Rovers have won just once in 10 games, and not since 16 October in the league, a situation that was responsible for Paul Trollope's pre-Christmas sacking.
But Patterson has stressed to his men the importance of getting a result at MK Dons on New Year's Day.
"If we get a good start to the year momentum-wise, it will help," he said.
Inactivity, coupled with managerless Rovers' poor form, has left them 21st in League One.
But Patterson insists: "It could work in our favour if we get a result on Saturday.
Hopefully they will be really hungry to play. That is certainly what the coaching staff will want.
The-Gas
"The response from the lads has been great. The lads have showed some great spirit.
"And we were grateful for knowing early about the postponement at Rochdale on Boxing Day, so we could change our training plans accordingly.
"We've had quite a few bits of illness, a lot of cold and flu and a few niggles.
"But we've managed to clear them up, everybody's good and we've used the time very wisely.
"We've done a lot of video analysis and tactical board stuff, which usually the players don't enjoy, to get some things across."
