Bristol Rovers are hoping loan signing John Akinde will recover from a hip flexor problem and start in attack.
Fellow striker Darryl Duffy has joined Hibernian on loan and Rovers will be hoping Akinde can take his place.
Bristol Rovers manager Paul Trollope told BBC Radio Bristol: "We finished 11th last season and we were in the top 10 all season, so if that represents a difficult time I'm a little bit surprised.
Trollope aims to 'iron out' problems
"A difficult time was five years ago when we were in the bottom half of League Two. We feel we've made progress both on and off the pitch.
"We've got a few problems to iron out and a few issues but we're certainly pleased with our recruitment, we've brought some quality in, and it's about working together and being cohesive as a team."
