Bristol Rovers defender Byron Anthony is confident the defensive know-how of new assistant manager Darren Patterson can help the team shore up the back-line for the upcoming season. The Pirates had the fifth worst defensive record in League One last season shipping 70 goals which ultimately led to their disappointing 11th placed finish. However, Anthony believes that the appointment of former Northern Ireland international defender Patterson as Paul Trollope's number two will bring with it an improvement in the Rovers' goals against column for the 2010/11 campaign. He told the club's official website: "Darren is a good guy, full of confidence, and will bring a good energy to the team. The fact that he played international football as a defender should help us and will, I'm sure be a massive benefit to us. "If we can tighten up at the back and the lads up front can get some goals, that will strengthen our bid to push up the table."
